Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Get the scoop on September 26
To help citizens prepare for the October 3 public hearing, the county will host an open house this coming Monday, September 26 at Mercer Middle School on the
proposal to add up to 28,000 new houses along Route 50.

The open house will run from 6:00 to 8:00 PM; you are welcome to come when you're available.  County planning staff will be available to answer citizens' questions about the proposed changes.

Background Info on this New City Proposed Along Rt 50

October 3 is your chance to be heard
Please plan to attend the 10/3 public hearing that would open the door to 28,000 residential units and 77,000 new residents. It's critical that the planning commissioners and the press hear the community's voice, loud and clear and strong. The Board of Supervisors will be paying attention to what happens that night.

The county has changed the time to 5:30 p.m., which conflicts with Rosh Hashanah and many commuters' schedules. See Planning Commissioner John Herbert's protest in the Washington Post regarding this schedule change. Please plan to come even if you can not arrive at 5:30 (thanks to traffic!).

It is critical for the Planning Commissioners to hear what you think. If you need more information, resources are available on our website or get the numbers straight from the county (page 3).
